Nearly two months ago, one of my best friends, MacKenzie, lost one of the most important people in her life - her big sister, Ashley. Ashley was born with Cystic Fibrosis; throughout the years, she went through countless operations and treatments to manage the disease, including a double lung transplant and a kidney transplant. After the operations, Ashley was able to live a fairly normal life; she graduated, joined a sorority, and competed on both a gymnastics team and cheerleading squad. However, last summer, her lungs began failing, and she was told that she needed a new pair. Ashley and her mother moved out to Cleveland, Ohio, where she was first on the transplant list at the Cleveland Clinic. Unfortunately, a new pair of lungs never game. If more people were organ donors, it’s possible that Ashley would still be here today. Nobody should have to go through what this family has gone through, and by becoming an organ donor, you could prevent another family from having to say goodbye to a loved one. Please watch this video and help spread the word about Ashley’s story and becoming an organ donor. And remember, breathe easy for Ashley, each and every day.
